It all began with an idea…
When they were high school students in 2019, Libby Gorman and Katie Donahue discussed what could be done for young families and the unborn in the Traverse City community outside of simply praying for them. Determined to translate prayer into action, they enlisted the help of fellow students Rachel Dunphey and Sophia Rhein. Together, the four girls set out to create a student-run nonprofit dedicated to providing families in need with healthy, home-cooked meals.
Over the next three years, the students wrote endless standard operating procedures, studied to become Certified Food Managers, designed brochures, held numerous meetings and did everything else that had to be done in order to officially launch The Beauty of Life on January 16th, 2022. None of it could have been accomplished without the encouragement and expertise of a fantastic adult board, the pro bono legal services of Fiorvento Law P.L.L.C., the dedication of every student officer on the board, and the goodness and faithfulness of God.
The Beauty of Life is now run by a rotating student board and advised by an adult board, together working to make our Traverse City community more supportive of families in need!
